PlayStation 3 Consoles, Games and Accessories

About the PlayStation 3

Following on from the PlayStation 2, the PS3 was released in early 2007 and competed with the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. The first console to use Blu-Ray discs, the PS3 was also the first of Sony’s consoles that made use of PlayStation Network to offer game updates, digital downloads and other online services. (We sell PSN credit, too!)

The PS3 was able to connect to both the PSP and the PS Vita handhelds, allowing for game transfers, unlockable bonuses and extra features (such as using the PSP as a rear-view mirror in a racing game) or playing games remotely over a network or Internet connection (a feature that has also been included in the PS4).

It was also the console that saw the beginnings of the Uncharted series, along with the first instalment of Assassin’s Creed, and other important games such as Infamous and LittleBigPlanet. As of November 2013, the PS3 had sold over 80 million units – almost on par with the Xbox 360, but behind the Nintendo Wii’s tally of over 100 million.
